The weather folks said it probably wasn't a tornado since there wasn't rotation, just strong micro-bursts and straight-line winds. That's almost as believable as USAF folks saying "it's just a weather balloon or swamp gas." We came through ok, just still without power.
More to come later, here's a shot of us hunkering down in our inside hallway. Keep in mind, it was completely dark as the power was out -- the flash lit things pretty well. Claire slept through the whole thing (she's under the red blanket...you can see her toes), Maddie liked the idea of camping out and then surveying the damage!

Nice to see you have the important things in life with you... your girls, their stuffed animals, a mini maglight AND your camera!
Good to know you guys are alright!! I feel disconnected from the storms in the lower 48 up here (especially sleeping during the day for midnight shifts!).
Hopefully the cleanup goes well in Altus and you were able to recover from the local damage (overturned slides!) quickly.
Holy cow! There's one thing I do NOT miss about the midwest. Glad you guys came through all right. Hope you get your power back soon and that the clean up goes smoothly.
Hey guys...Wow!! Sure glad to know you made it through all that OK. Hadn't heard about Altus getting hit like that until I just checked your blog site. Had to be pretty darn scary. Thank goodness you're all OK, and your house survived OK as well. Based on the photos, and the TV report, I'd say you all are pretty darn lucky. BIG hugs all around from me and Aunt Mary Ann.
I can hardly wait for Kansas now. Tornado Alley...here we come.
Looks like a big slumber party. Glad everyone is ok!!
Glad you are all okay. Next time head south a few hours and you can have your own room. I'll kick Haley and Grant out of theirs. Let us know if you need anything.
